Turning a New Leaf – The Happy Hemp Farmacy Headquarters

At Happy Hemp Farmacy we make everything with love, and our headquarters is no exception! We’re building a new space from the ground up to scale the business and grow more hemp. We can’t thank you enough for supporting us throughout our laborious journey to becoming a community-driven craft hemp company.

Just like any emerging industry, the hemp business has gone through a lot of changes that can spark questions and concerns from customers. Inaccurate white labels and confusing state-by-state regulations are a few reasons why CBD commerce can seem intimidating and disingenuous.

Within Happy Hemp Farmacy, we promise to be as transparent as possible to defy any doubts you might have about our products. Unlike most CBD companies, we are starting from the ground up to create a vertical supply chain.

A vertical supply chain for hemp means we research and buy the seeds, grow our own strains of hemp, formulate our products, package in-house, and ship out each package to local retailers or online customers.

No white labels. No gimmicks. No middleman.

“We want people to know us and know where our heart is,” says co-founder JP Cisco. “So they can commit to something that’s different and makes a difference.”

HHF’s #1 goal is to make accessible and affordable CBD products for our friends, family, and community.

In order to meet these demands and make our tinctures, topicals, rollies, and flower inexpensive, we will be growing hemp in-house at our new headquarters. HHF HQ will be located in the Southside of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

We found a vacant 3,500 square foot warehouse that required a complete internal demolition. Once complete, the headquarters will cater to our production, office, and indoor growing needs.

“We’re a bootstrap startup,” as Cisco likes to say. Revamping the warehouse to suit our specific demands is no exception. The first step of the process requires new plumbing, light fixtures, dry walling, repainting, electrical reconfiguring, and floor resurfacing. The arduous undertaking is being fulfilled by our four founders and their friends in the midst of 90 degree days without air conditioning.

Once we give the building a well-earned upgrade, it will have to be customized for an indoor hemp grow.

You might be wondering, if Happy Hemp Farmacy already has several acres of hemp farming outside, then why is indoor farming necessary?

INDOOR GROW:

Cultivating indoors is pricey, but the investment will benefit our company in the long run for three main reasons:

  1.  Only a few hemp strains can handle the heat and humidity in the Southeast. We’ll have access to a wider variety of hemp with an indoor grow.
  2. Indoor grows can produce four harvests a year compared to the standard single season.
  3. A stable, indoor environment ensures safe, pest-free conditions that are ideal for CBD tinctures and smokable hemp flower.

Our biggest intent is making our indoor hemp harvests as sustainable as possible. The HQ is small, which means we’ve had to strategize how to make the space efficient by focusing on the following:

–       Vertical farming will help us grow 4,500-5,000 square feet of hemp in a 3,500 square foot facility!

–       Using LED lights, which consume a mere quarter of the energy of traditional lights.

–       Constructing a drip system to cut down water waste by selectively feeding plants the precise amount required.

Achieving all these needs in the midst of outdoor harvest season has been hectic, but we couldn’t be more excited! The team has been putting in 80 hour work weeks with the intent of designing a unique operation for our CBD customers and local community.

We’ve created a holistic brand that personally interacts with every aspect of the supply chain, inspired by the homeostasis qualities of our broad spectrum CBD.

If you want to know exactly where your hemp comes from, follow us on our journey to becoming a comprehensive craft hemp company built for making you feel better.
